A typographic poster for a retrospective screening of the films of director Andrei Tarkovsky. Tarkovsky was a renowned director whose films contained both a visual and thematic richness. Tarkovsky also wrote about many of his own theories regarding cinema, and exulted cinema as the only true art form which captured time. The poster is a projected animation, and morphs through the three titles within the retrospective ( The Mirror 1975, Stalker 1979 and The Sacrifice 1986).
I wanted to highlight the transient nature of cinema, and also contemplate the cinematic experience, proposing perhaps that cinema-goers could see the poster at one stage before a screening, and on exiting the cinema would see that the poster had changed, highlighting to them time passed or spent.
